Watermark Technologies,
Bond University – Finalist, 2001
Jack
Eckert and Baden U'Ren, both of whom were Moot Corp
competitors, took Watermark Technologies through initial funding rounds after
the competition. Unfortunately,
their viability was contingent upon a license agreement with the owner of the
technology, Anti Bio Technologies (ABT). ABT
was approached by USFilters, one of America's largest pool filtration companies,
who ended up purchasing the rights to distribute the technology in the US prior
to Eckert and U'Ren finalizing their business. As a result, they were content to
relinquish their interest in the technology to allow Anti Bio, an up-and-coming
Australian business, to enter the US on the 'back' of an established player. The company is experiencing substantial growth and is quite profitable.
They have entered South East Asia and continue to develop their own
activities in Europe. Details can be seen at www.antibio.com.au.
