More Opportunities to Win
The 2001 Competition will build on
the innovations introduced in the 2000 Competition. Each team will pitch its
venture three times:
On Thursday, each will participate in
seedstage.com’s Fast Pitch. The teams each have 15 minutes to present
their ventures and then receive constructive criticism from the seedstage
team. This feedback will sharpen the team's concept and presentation for the
Opening Round.
On
Friday morning, all 30 teams will compete in the Opening Round of the
Competition, with six teams in each of the five divisions. After the
results are announced around 1:30 PM, the teams will meet again with their
judges for feedback.
On
Saturday, all teams will compete in the Money Rounds. In the morning, the
20 teams who were neither in first nor second place in their Opening Round
divisions will compete in five Challenges. Each Challenge will be hosted
and judged by a different venture capital firm that will award $2,000 to
the winner. Similarly, the first runners-up will compete for $3,000 in the
Murphree Challenge. In the afternoon, the five finalists will
compete.
Team Showcase
On Thursday, May
3, each team will showcase its venture at a reception for judges, sponsors,
faculty and business leaders. Team members will be on hand to answer questions about their ventures.
