NeuroBank Named 2008 Global Moot Corp Champion
 
A company hoping to become the market leader in adult (non-embryonic) stem cell storage claimed the grand prize at the 25th annual Global Moot Corp Competition held at the University of Texas at Austin on May 3.
 
NeuroBank from Carnegie Mellon University beat out 37 teams from top MBA programs around the world to claim the Global Champion prize. NeuroBank has developed a breakthrough proprietary technology for minimally-invasive extraction, isolation, expansion and cryopreservation of adult neural stem cells. The company believes neural stem cells will provide a platform for cellular based therapies for a variety of neurological conditions including traumatic brain injury, traumatic spinal cord injury, stroke, Parkinson's Disease, and multiple sclerosis in the future. Read more.
Moot Corp Winner Will Open NASDAQ Stock Market
 
On Friday, August 15, NeuroBank will open the NASDAQ Stock Market. This is the sixth year the Global Moot Corp Competition winner has opened the market and it is always an exciting event.
 
To view the ceremony on the NASDAQ Market Open Web Cam: (all times are EDT), go to www.nasdaq.com/reference/marketsite_about.stm. Viewers must have Windows Media Player to view the web cam. Scroll to the bottom of the page under the heading MarketSite Live Web cam and click on Windows Media Player. Anytime before 9:20 AM, the web cam will be showing the Tower.  At 9:20 AM, the router is switched and you will see inside the studio.

New ventures presented at the Global Moot Corp Competition continue to grow and receive funding to make their dreams a reality.

Lumedyne Raises $1.5 Million from Investors
The 2007 Global Moot Corp Global Champion Lumedyne Technologies  (formerly Omega Sensors) has raised $1.5 million dollars from investors. Lumedyne's AcXel accelerometer technology is poised to revolutionize the high performance accelerometer world by delivering the first high performance accelerometer that can take advantage of the MEMS cost structure.

Phurnace Software Closes Additional Venture Financing 
Phurnace Software, the Java application deployment company, announced that it has completed its $5 million Series A financing, led by S3 Ventures, a Texas-based venture capital firm. Previous investors, including DFJ Mercury, also participated in the financing. The capital will be used by Phurnace to expand sales, marketing and development activities for its patent-pending deployment automation products.
