Omega Sensors Named 2007 Global Moot Corp
Champion
A patented cutting edge optical
displacement sensing technique for use
in accelerometers, gyroscopes, pressure
sensors, temperature sensors and
magnetometers claimed the grand prize at
the 24th annual Global Moot Corp
Competition held at the University of
Texas at Austin on Saturday, May 5.
Omega Sensors from San Diego State
University beat out 34 teams from the
UCLA-Berkeley, John Hopkins, Carnegie
Mellon and top MBA programs around the
world to claim the Global Champion
prize.
Omega Sensors is an OEM supplier
of market disruptive accelerometer
technology. Applications include seismic
imaging, navigation, industrial
monitoring and more. The heart of the
MEMSUSA accelerometer technology is
Omega Sensors' displacement sensing
technology. This technology has measured
displacements as small as 10 Femto-meters
(where 1 Femto-meter =
0.000,000,000,000,001 meters). Team
members are Brad Chisum and
Nick Rhea. Alex DeNoble is
the faculty adviser.

Teams Experience Success in Regional New
Venture Competitions
Graduate students representing The
University of Texas at Austin in regional
competitions fared very well this year. The
winners earned not only prize money but
valuable contacts in the venture capital
industry, putting them on their way to
launching their venture. Here's a breakdown
by team:
MacuCLEAR, the Texas Moot Corp
Competition winner, won first place and
$100,000 in the New Venture Business Plan
Competition at the University of Texas at
Tyler in May. The team also won first place
and $10,000 in the second annual Big XII New
Venture Championship sponsored by the Big
XII Center for Economic Development,
Innovation and Commercialization. In
February, they took third place and $3,000
in the New Ventures World Competition at the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The team won
second place and $5,000 in March in the
Stuart Clark Venture Challenge at the
University of Manitoba in Canada. MacuCLEAR
went on to win second place and $5,000 in
the Tulane Business Plan Competition hosted
by Tulane University. The team competed in
the Global Moot Corp Competition and won
$1,000 as the Murphree Venture Partners
Challenge runner-up.

On Friday, August 10, Omega
Sensors will open the NASDAQ Stock
Market. This is the fifth year the
Global Moot Corp Competition winner has
opened the market.
