Dear Ann,
We welcome you to the inaugural issue of our new
monthly newsletter. Rather than communicating with
you periodically, we will now send you news on a
regular basis. We have developed this newsletter to
keep sponsors, MBAs, faculty, alumni, and the business
community informed about news and issues related to
the MOOT CORP Competition, the original and most
lucrative MBA business plan competition in the world.
We look forward to a stimulating and productive round
of upcoming competitions and offer our sincere thanks
to all of you, whose vision and support will help us
realize the promise of this exciting program. -- -- Warm
regards, Gary M. Cadenhead, Ph.D.

College competitions have changed dramatically over
the last few years. Long gone are the days of picking
between debate or phone-booth-stuffing for a little
campus competition. And intercollegiate athletics seem
mild in comparison to today's business-plan
competitions, where contestants are all about swaying
judges and launching companies and careers.
These high-stakes productions for cash prizes are
becoming increasingly popular in an economy where
jobs for new graduates are scarce. Entrepreneurship
has become a huge draw on college campuses.
Students dream of creating their own jobs and
developing viable businesses. And what better way to
get started than to follow the advice of experts and
prepare a winning business plan?
Patrick J. Sauer encapsulates the MOOT CORP
Competition in his article "How to Win Big and Get
Ahead Fast" published in the September issue of Inc.
magazine.

| 2003 MOOT CORP Global Competition Winner - KidSmart |
 |
Matthew Ferris, Bruce Black, Doug Ghertner and Kerry
Moher, all graduates from the University of Georgia's
Terry College of Business 11-month MBA program, won
the $100,000 prize in the MOOT CORP Global
Competition in Austin earlier this year. Their business
plan for manufacturing and marketing the KidSmart
Vocal Smoke Detector, a patented combination smoke
detector-digital voice recorder, made a decisive impact
on the judges as an important offering in the
marketplace. With their unique product, rock-solid plan
and well-rehearsed sales pitch, the Terry College
entrepreneurs beat 29 other teams from among the
world's top business schools.
KidSmart solves a problem only recently recognized by
fire safety experts and researchers. Children experience
deeper R.E.M. sleep patterns than adults and often are
not awakened by the piercing alarms of conventional
smoke detectors. They are awakened consistently,
however, by the sound of a parent's voice calling their
name. The KidSmart Vocal Smoke Detectors, each with
a non-removable, 10-year lithium battery, allow parents
to record a set of escape instructions customized to a
child's home. KidSmart will launch its product in the
American market in February.

| 2002 MOOT CORP Global Competition Winner - Private Concepts |

A revolutionary, patent-pending device that its
inventor says will replace the pap smear as a cervical
cancer test for women is a step closer to market after
claiming the grand prize at the 19th annual
international MOOT CORP® Competition in 2002.
Beginning in a few days some 300 women will be tested
for cancer at The University of Texas Medical Branch in
Galveston. Each woman will receive both the traditional
pap smear and Private Concepts' Pevlon. The results
will determine the sample size for the FDA trials in 2004.
The 2002 MOOT CORP winner, Private Concepts Inc., is
a team of MBAs from The University of Texas at Austin
McCombs School of Business. They beat out 29 teams
from the London Business School, Carnegie Mellon and
top MBA programs around the world to claim the
$100,000 prize. It marked the fourth time in the
competition's 19-year history that a University of Texas
at Austin team has won.
Private Concept's device, invented by Dr. Patrick
Peveto, allows women to comfortably and conveniently
self-administer the exam at home. The team
anticipates that the simple, inexpensive Pevlon Home
Cervical Cancer Screen will decrease the need for
doctor's office pap smears and increase the number of
woman who test for this deadly disease on a regular
basis. The exam is slated as the first in a series of
home health care products that Private Concepts
expects to bring to market.
There is no cure for cervical cancer, which each year
kills 5,000 women nationally and 200,000 worldwide.
Women diagnosed with cervical cancer have a one in
three chance of survival when the cancer is detected
early. A yearly cervical exam for at risk women is
imperative.

In its 21st year, the MOOT CORP Competition continues
to be a prestigious launch pad for new commercial
ventures. This year the Ron Kessler Group, an
executive leadership coaching and consulting company,
has become the entrepreneur grooming partner for
MOOT CORP's Texas competition, slated for January
and February in Austin. The Ron Kessler
Group's "Wisdom Cluster" is cleverly leveraging the
experience and expertise of Austin's community leaders

Kessler Group provides are essential to these young
entrepreneurs," said Dr. Gary Cadenhead, director of
the MOOT CORP Program. "It allows us to focus on
each team's particular needs. Entrepreneurs cannot
thrive on vague generalities. What they need, and

experience designed to help them win in the
